Our Favourite 7 Things To Do in Leeds This Autumn

Our Favourite 7 Things To Do in Leeds This Autumn

Autumn is finally here Leeds and it’s time to get cosy! Get ready for crisp mornings, vibrant colours and our favourite part - the food! Here’s our line up of the top things to do in Leeds this Autumn.

Pumpkin Picking

It’s pumpkin season and Kemps Farm are ready - they’ve grown over 70 thousand pumpkins this season! Hop on a tractor, grab a wheel barrow and take your pick. There’s jumbo, mini, warty, blue, yellow pink and even (yes!) orange - what will you choose?

Pumpkin Picking at Kemps Farm is open from the 28th September 2024. Book your advance ticket here.

Cinnamon Bun Making

Is there anything cosier than a morning of baking? Roll up your sleeves, get your rolling pin and embrace the art of sweet morning breads. As the air turns crisp and leaves start to fall, there’s nothing more comforting than the smell of freshly baked bread and cinnamon wafting through the kitchen. Plus you get to try your hand at more baked goodies - and it wouldn’t be ’reet for us not to include a Yorkshire Tea Loaf now would it?

Sweet Morning Breads is running at Leeds Cookery School on October 26th and November 23rd 2024.

German Beer and Bratwurst

Like proper good beer? How about sausages? Let’s face it, who doesn’t?! Put on your lederhosen and get down Kirkstall Brewery for October’s biggest German festival, Oktoberfest. They’re converting the brewery into a traditional German beer hall, with live music and traditional Bavarian food.

Oktoberfest is on the 27th and 28th September 2024. Purchase your tickets through Kirkstall Brewery.

A Splash of Colour

Roundhay Park is the perfect place to see the leaves change this Autumn. From vibrant reds to golden yellows, it's not only beautiful to look at - there's also something magical about this time of year. Take a book, some blankets and a picnic (perhaps including some cheeky baked goods from our sweet morning breads class) and snuggle up to watch the leaves fall. Perfect!

Roundhay Park is open all year round to visitors, plus there's free parking too.

Persian Delights

Need warming up this Autumn? Our cosy Persian Kitchen class will do just that. Feel swept away to distant lands, as warming spices and fragrant scents fill the air. Learn about ingredients like pomegranate, rose and saffron, as well as the rich traditions of Persian cuisine. A real treat!

Persian Kitchen is running at Leeds Cookery School on September 25th 2024.

Brambling Rambles

There are lots of places to find brambles (blackberries) across Leeds, but one of our favourites is Otley Chevin. Head up to the Surprise View car park and enjoy a wholesome walk through rock formations, woods, streams and you guessed it - some amazing views. Brambles are rife throughout the trail - just remember the rules - make sure you know how to identify them, only take what you need - and give them a wash first!

Otley Chevin is open all year round, with parking at Surprise View Carpark.

Scavenger Adventures

Embark on a foodie adventure through Europe's biggest indoor market! This is an experience like no other - First you will be treated to a food tour around Kirkgate, gathering ingredients from the market stalls, from local bakeries to fresh seafood. Next, you get to bring your spoils back to Leeds Cookery School and take part in a cooking competition - winner gets a bag of goodies!

The Market Scavenger Hunt Cooking Experience is running at Leeds Cookery School in Kirkgate Market on October 26th 2024.
